Internal medicine offers around 9000 categorical, around 1850 preliminary, and around 450 primary care positions.
The total number of positions increased by 19% over the last 5 years. As result around 600 ACGME accredited programs offer 32% of all available PGY-1 residency positions.
The percent of US MD, DO, and IMG matched applicants have no essential changes over the past years and equal 50%, 12%, and 33% respectively.
